    Fisher Detectors

Today I actually went and looked at the Fisher line up for the first time, and I must say I'm impressed at what you get for the money. Their rep proceeds them so I'm sure their built fairly well, and the 5 year warranty eases the mind. It just kind of showed me, not that high tech is everything, but how that much more value you can pack into a machine by tapping into the cheaper and cheaper technology that now permeates our life. I watched a video of the F2 at work. I'm blown away at what the F2 offers for the price. VDI screen, good target recovery speed, discrimination. Not perfect but it does some things pretty well for the price. You will see them advertised for 215 w/ 2 coils, accessories, shipped free etc. How do they do it? I like the Gold Bug Pro and DP a lot and if i'm not careful I could see myself pulling the trigger on one before I could stop myself....LOL....I hear a lot on the CZ-5's and such, F-75, what Fisher do you like for under 750? I can't of want a higher frequency or dual frequency machine, and would prefer a VDI readout. Have an XLT on the way for 6.5 khz operation, and was thinking I would pick up an F2 sometime soon for my son. I have been searching for a DFX lately, but they are all going for what I think is too much, ( $750) that might change as winter progresses......But for now I am taking a serious look at Fisher stuff, and one more question, are Teknetics and Fisher the same companies or related somehow?

Teknetics and Fisher both are made by First Texas which owns both.

You get a lot of detector for the money and that makes it easier for me to pay it off with my finds. I love the weight of the machine and the fact it only takes four AA's and they last an unbelievably long time.

Be going back there soon and am going to pick up a Gold Bug Pro or a G2 ..... Keppy, the G2 and GB Pro being almost identical, what is it you like about the G2 the GB Pro doesn't have. The shafts are different, that's about all I have spotted. The Teknetics carrying case I like more. I have heard no bad feedback on this new machine, everyone who has commented loves their GB. I was looking at some of the of the Teknetics in the 500-750 range and lot of value there, too. You get the detector that fits the opportunities you have to hunt near home, first. I will do plenty of coin hunting, but not much interested in clad hunts all the time in a Park. I get to the desert at least every other weekend. So I need something for casual Gold hunting and Relic detecting on the camping trips, and I believe the GB will still be a surprisingly good coin finder when I need one. I understand the GB recovery speed is very fast and the trash separation is excellent. They are quieter and can be run hotter without chatter than the F-75 & F-70. I will get a GB for now and get a hot coin shooter in summer instead of the mid range, now. F-75 LTD looks tempting.......Of course, I know this only from my reading. Maybe you could buy one and confirm my opinions before I buy? LOL just kidding I think we will see a lot of good things in the next couple of years from Fisher Labs new applications of DSP circuitry ( Digital Signal Processor) I like how they are taking the signal, splitting it, running one through DISC program and one in another form (indiscriminated, all metal form) then the processor combines and analyzes. ...Did you see Fisher has now bought the company that makes their PC boards?

Cleetus......... I can't buy a Gold Bug Pro before you and then confirm your opinion's .... The reason you went and bought a Gold bug DP today.......... You beat me to the punch.......... The only difference in the G2 & the Gold Bug is the shaft..... And you are right i never heard one person say any thing bad about the Gold Bug or G2.............. All i ever heard or saw written about them were good..............So Fisher bought the company that makes there PC boards that is good news for the Fisher users.................. Good Luck with your new Gold Bug..........

    Re: Fisher Detectors

I have heard Fisher is supposed to announce a new model that is supposedly going to be available December 2012.
Anyone have any confirmations on this or is it just rumor?

    Re: Fisher Detectors

The only rumor I heard of a new Fisher detector coming out in December 2012 was on the Dankowski Detector Forum and I believe it was initiated by Tom D. himself.
