New to metal detecting and need help.

I'm new to metal detecting and bought a new fisher f4 and to say i'm having issues is an understatement. I guess my first problem is trying to ground balance the machine. I watched a youtube video that explained how to ground balance it. I took it out and did exactly like it said and all i get is constant tone no matter which way i turn the knob. Any help would be appreciated.

Are you outdoors and away from overhead powerlines?

Do you get the same constant tone if you put it on the "Preset" position?

Is the sensitivity at 50% to 75%?

I called fisher today and my machine was defective. Returned it and got a new one and everything works fine now. Thanks for the reply.

I just had to return it where I bought it and they exchanged it. I was very impressed with the customer service I received when I contacted fisher everyone was very polite and helpful and I even got a follow up phone call from them the next day to make sure that I got a new machine and that I was satisfied. In my experience you just dont find that caliber of customer service very often anymore. Im very pleased with my new f4 and with fisher overall.

    Thanks everyone
