I Hit the beach at 2:45 am,low tide. I worked the wet sand for three hours,with normal coin/pulltab finds.I spent the last hour in knee deep water,and could tell by the way the CZ21 was getting "sluggish" the batteries were getting low.The next mid tone signal was a mans 14k band(God I love to see gold in the scoop!),when I rechecked the hole I was still getting a very faint signal in pinpoint,and the machine was acting erratic .I dug about three more scoops,and hit battery check on the CZ.The batteries were done. I kept scooping in that spot,without the CZ but found nothing. Was it more gold,a coin,a bobbypin? looks like I may never know. Happy hunting.
