CZ 20 Threshold Question

Threshold. PP is sealed and I won’t be using that. Auto Tune only. I’ve used and tuned Whites (Di series3, Xl pro) and xterra 705. I can manually tune both. This (newly aquired-used) CZ 20 has a very scratchy , broken threshold. I can tune it. BUT is this normal or is there a problem? My yard- same on I can tune other MDs with a clean threshold.
The batteries are about half power (going to get some more after I post). Thought it might be debris in the coil cover-took that off. Couple grams of sand. Cleaned- BUT no change.
Tell me its just the nature of the CZ 20, age or any thought please.

It doesn't have a true threshold like some detectors...in autotune some people describe it as a threshold wobble, it does not have a smooth threshold...a lot of people back the sens off until the hum just goes silent, me included.
