Same machine. The DP comes configured with an 11" DD eliptical coil, the Pro w/5" DD round coil. Same advantages as with any coil difference, depth, small target sensitivity, coverage. depending on choice.

Locater then no difference except the coil type .. To me that is weird to change the name with the coil change .. But these detector makers like to through curves to us now and then..

The ol lipstick on a pig. NOT to imply that the gold bug pro is a pig, it is a very well rated gold machine. They just did the same with the BH Platinum, which happens to be my first new detector. The standard platinum comes with an 8" concentric coil. Now they have a "Platinum Pro", which from what I can see, is simply a standard Platinum which is now configured with an 11" DD eliptical also. Both are produced by First Texas, along with the Teknetics brand. It appears to be simply a marketing thing. As soon as I bought my Platinum, years ago, I put a Fisher F5 11" DD coil on it. I guess I had a prototype Platinum Pro! :)

If there is any difference between the GB Pro and DP I can't tell what it would be,

No difference except the coil same electronics for both. The DP has exactly the same electronics as the Teknetics G2. These are great in a non alloy rich environment, such as an iron rich environment.

This is correct. DP stands for Deep process.

Sorta like they do with cars. You could buy a Chevy Camaro with different add-ons. Depending on the options, you could have a RS, SS, Iroc, etc. Still a Camaro.

What's next, a DP PRO? Same detector but comes with two coils. Or how about a DP PRO SE and the coils are located in a different spot in the box. LOL

what is the difference between the .. Gold Bug DP ..and the Gold Bug Pro ..? Is one to be better than the other and why ..?

Looks like the Gold Bug Pro DP is sold with the large 11" DD coil,
and the Gold Bug Pro, is sold with the small 5" DD coil.
The machine has the same face plate with nobs and buttons and digital screen,
Just name and costs are the difference....
Confusing huh?
Anyway, I own and use the Pro, and occasionally put the 5" coil on,
and have the versatility of both coils. Way to go.

You may also be interested in the Fischer F-19.
It is a sister to the Goldbug series. Comes with the 10 x 6 coil.

I'd be happy to see more about the F-19, here on the TNet.
At one point I was considering getting THAT machine, as it
looks SO close to what I already use...!
...that I'd hit the ground, running...!
