Today was hunt #9 for the month and I'm up to 33 silver coins and 3 14k gold rings. Thankfully that there's only one day left in the month because I'm about wore out from doing all that digging. I got one more day to see if I can make it 35 silver coins in one month.
I set up the F75 with the NEL Sharpshooter search coil in the DE mode, 90 on the sensitivity, 4H tones and zero discrimination.
I wasn't having any luck at all at the new site. All I was digging was a bunch of copper memorial pennies and digging around a bunch of roots. My back and knees were sore, but I pushed on.
Finally between an elm and magnolia tree, I got a sweet soft audio tone with the VDI number rolling slowing back in forth in the silver range. I knew it was silver before I even dug it. It's was a deep 1942 Mercury Dime.
I didn't find but 2 wheat pennies at the new site, so I decided to go across street and finish hunting the site where I found so many silver coins and gold ring. I dug 20 wheat pennies and not a single copper memorial penny at the old site. Go figure, both are corner lots and the houses were built the same year.
Anyway, I finally cornered a 1957 Washington Quarter next to the bushes. It was shallow and it surprised me being that shallow since the dirt was so soft and loamy. That quarter bought my monthly tally to 33 silver coins.
More good news, I got 2 more permissions to hunt the neighbors' yards. I need a rest.
