First I have to ask " Are you serious ? " And your answer is it's a dime ... looks modern ... you need closer pic's or post the date ... if it's silver it's worth more than clad (10 cents) and there is nothing rare about pocket change . Woodstock

Can you describe any characteristics of this coin that makes you believe it may be rare or valuable? I, for one, see nothing but poorly focused images.

First, post? Common clad pocket change? Why post a finds based living thread in an equipment forum? So many questions, not a lot of answers. Welcome to Tnet and, hopefully, you'll become less confused about what and where post. Good luck.

I'm with you. It's a modern coin with post mint damage. Not trying to be a jerk and realize he's new so I'll be nice. BTW who's that guy on your avatar?

Yeah, hard to tell if he is jerking our chain or just confused. It is def not a mint error coin if that is what he was driving at. Anyway, the avatar is pic of "Owen" from Planes, Trains, and Automobiles who picked up the John Candy and Steve Martin characters at the motel and gave them a lift to the train station in the back of his pickup in "one" degree weather. His best line is in my sig below.

Ok it's a normal dime but if you look arround the inner rim it seems to have a bronze/copper toned ring. I'm thinking it is possible it was punched with more force and raised the inner metal to the surface. Srry for the lack of description. I couldn't find another like it so I found this forum to get some ideas. image.jpeg

Pics are poor quality, but looks to me like there's something gunked up on the inner rim. I bet you could take the tip of a sharp pocket knife and easily scrape it away. Have you tried to remove it at all?

Only tried scratching at it with my nails. It felt very solid. Didn't use a knife as to not damage it. Have found a few valuable coins in just pocket change. But never seen this. Appreciate opinions given though. :occasion14:

In any event you would be better off posting the pics and question in one of the treasure finds forums. Only people with Fisher branded detectors or looking for information on Fisher detectors would tend to brose here. So you are limiting your find's exposure to people who may have some relevant knowledge on rare coins but who don't own a Fisher detector.
