My F-44 has been flawless until just my last outing. I've only put half the battery through it (which I've now replaced). The last 24 hours now the machine is throwing numbers all over the place. I make sure to ground balance and it's giving me 20's to 80's on slow movement and sitting still. I can't zero in on anything now.

Getting ready to send it back to where I bought it or for warranty repair. Any ideas? I've tried disconnecting the coil and reconnecting it. Hoping that would give it some life. Nothing.

You did take off the skid plate and cleaned it, right? If not try this first.

I assume you have a good alkeline battery in it and not those "heavy duty" carbon/zinc ones that won't work a modern detector properly.

My routine is reboot, tighten the connector a little bit more, try new batteries.
