Green Cove Springs Today
I am a scuba diver and I just got my husband into the new hobby of metal detecting since he won't dive. We live in Saint Johns, FL. I did some research on Green Cove Springs today since it is close to home. The old pier which in the 1800s was the main point of access by ship to GCS was on what is now called Walnut Street. I sent my husband down there today to do some searching of his own.

Well..... He found some old Sprite cans with the pull tabs from the 70s? LOL Nothing else yet. He went back today.

That sounds like my usual treasures. The real treasure is the hunt itself. Fun in the sun and surf and you never know what the next beep will bring! Happy hunting and keep the posts coming.

I have seen some maps from the 1800s and there were many tourists to come down on steamers who left thier coins. If you want to go wreck diving, get your hubby to try south of GCS. More like along the banks of bayard area....There was an old spanish blockhouse there. Modern day it would be in the river.
