Re: Here ya go Malabar II, Clausen info
He meant Carl Clausen. Carl was the state of Florida's first underwater archaeologist, and the guy charged with over-seeing the treasure salvors working the offshore shipwrecks starting back in the early 60's. Carl was also co-author with Bob Burgess of the famous book, Florida's Golden Galleons. As I understand it, he was not very well liked by the treasure hunters at that time.
Clausen is now serving basically a life sentence for murdering his wife, and attempting to shoot law enforcement officers who arrived at his house.

Re: Here ya go Malabar II, Clausen info
clausen killed his cheating wife true -- I do find it odd how as a highly trained military guy with combat experance and thus good shooting skills , he didn't even nick one of the cops -- (personally I think he was firing to keep them at bay while he made good his escape / cover fire)-- he hid in the woods for several days while they did a man hunt for him, after they called it off and left , he was caught by a former cop son in law that laided in wait for him in the house , who got the drop on him as he went back to the house --( bad mistake he should have known better )--(he wanted to get car keys and go get the man that was "invovled" in the affair with his wife.) -- so 1 charge of murder --and for shooting in the cops direction (so he could escape---ie cover fire) several counts of attempted murder * ---what a waste sad but true.
he should have just dumped her and moved on.
funny thing by the way --according to tales told in fines book --sunken treasures of the spanish main --- "big tony" as they used tio carl clausen once tried to claim jump a 1733 site that was found by bob frogfoot weller -- so much for the "honor killing " theory because him jumping some elses ship wreck find was ok by him -- but his "claim" getting jumped wasn't .
one has to wonder if he had a "stash" of items or cash from looted gold /silver gathered over the years , hidden nearby the old homesite?

I went to the link on this thread and looked at Clausen. Then for fun, I searched for some of my old neighborhood buddies from Miami and FOUND ONE!
Too funny, well, not for him I guess.
