    He must be new

Met this great guy on a beach in the St. Augustine area. He had on a dress shirt, dress pants, and at least $200. leather shoes.
New $50.-$75. detector with no head phones and the coil turned backwards!! I was just visiting from New York(without my DFX) so i stopped and talked with him. Gave him a few pointers-- turn coil around and get headphones. Hope he doesn't clean you all out of treasure. I know everyone needs to start somewhere.

Awww... poor guy! lol It is kinda funny though... but such were some of us.
Unfortunately, I can't say that I was born with a MD strapped to my arm.
Good on you for helping him out!!

Glad you helped the guy out. Did he say why he got a detector for to begin with?

Looks like the Vilano Beach area. A lot of rentals for visitors. He also needs to move closer to the water. The beach gets too eroded and everything piles up at the lip. The Vilano area is hit the hardest. I hope he wasn't too discouraged.

Diver down, This was out past the deaf and blind(?) school over the bridge turn left and up the beach a
ways. You have beautiful beaches there. His detector was brand new out of the box, no need to read the directions
just hit the beach and GO! lol

He did not say why he got it. His wife was sitting on a bench at the top of the dunes in a dress and heals reading a book.

He got a "beep" while I was talking with him and showed him how to take a handfull
of sand and wave it over the coil to see if the target was there or still in the hole.
Wouldn't you know a pull tab!!!!

    Re: He must be new

Thanks sgyouk, the beaches are real nice in St. Johns County. Over 40+ miles of coastline. There are so many different beaches with different topography with different erosion patterns. The area you described is the Vilano/South Ponte Vedra area. I could tell by the sand color and the slope of the beach. The currents are very dangerous there. Many swimmers don't make it back. I was just there this morning killing time while my car was being repaired. Pulled out some clad. The next time you visit, be sure to visit the Crescent Beach area. Lots of targets in the dry and the wet.
