Moving to Miami...Need advice on places to live!

Good morning treasurenet friends. I am active duty military and just received orders to Miami Beach. I will be transferring there this summer. I would appreciate any advice or input you all have on a living location in the area. Here is a little about me and what I am looking for:

I am a Caucasian middle class guy in my 40's with a family. My kids are not school age (19/18), so schools are not a consideration in the move. I am not rich by any means, I am not poor either...somewhere in the middle. I have no issues with diversity however, I do not want to be the only Caucasian on the block. Low crime is always a plus and within a one hour drive to Miami Beach.

I metal detect, but I promise not to find all the gold on the beaches there...although I do hope to find some :0)

look in the Homestead area....alot of that is new...and not far from Miami...
