Starting an organization to protect the right of md'ers in Florida and protect our rights as americans. Really at the ground stage but moving fast and any help will be appreciated.

Let the congressman hear your opinion on metal detecting!!

Bookmarked. Thanks Vwand. I was thinking of a more Florida-Salvage Rights focused group though.

Wasting your time focusing on congress! Start at the local city level first then work your way upward.

big-disco, what "ban" are you talking about in Florida? I think you're talking about stuff that never came to pass. And .... so ... no, please don't go lobbying congress and such, unless you had some law that truly shut down some place. Because otherwise, you might just be the "squeeky wheel" that "gets grease" by getting attention you don't want. If your "pressing issue" comes before purist archies (whose desk such matters must cross), then you can kiss even more detecting areas goodbye. Or to expect BOL's to be issued for those "evil mdr's", etc...

Sure, there might be some areas you can't hunt (shipwreck salvor claim spots/zones, or certain protected sensitive historic monuments, etc...), but no, you're not going to get those places opened up. And by making yourself a big stink, you might just get attention that you don't want.

Ironically, I hate to say it, it's LESS attention we want, not MORE.

It's more about preservation of recreational rights and being able to hunt without illogical restrictions.

Btw tom I agree with you, think maybe I didn't make it clear in my op
