If you're in Central Illinois, fill the bucket of concretions with water and leave them outside all winter. In the spring, some of them will have split on their own.

For those that haven't split . . . well, there's the winter of 2010-11!

im sure plastic bucket will crack open after freezing solid. so let freezing water split them instead of hammer, it may take another million years of freezing -thawing for some to open. thanks.
