    Had to leave Oklahoma....

but I finally found some real-deal fossils in Kansas. It's funny because I could almost stand with one foot in Kansas and one foot in Ok., I think the north foot found the fossils. We happened to search this river in it's Okie local, and found none of the rocks we were finding further north. That was surprising to me. Learned a lot. Here they are: a nice big coral from the pennsylvanian period(?) We thought sponge when we picked it up, but it looks more like pictures of coral. (There were lots of horn coral, but I left them there) this one was different. 3 myalina, bi-valves also from pennsylvaian rock. A small rock covered in fuseiliids(sp?) it's cool, feels like it's covered in sesame seeds, These little fossils are in a lot of chert that I find. This was a different way of seeing them. A petrified chunk of wood, a nice piece of bone that feels and sounds more like stone than wood, I think from a large mammal.

The last one I question, it could be just a neat piece of sandstone, but it kinda looks like bark also. The ridged side seems harder than the other side, and sharper in detail than sandstone usually is.

Buckshot found a nice impression of an ammonite looking critter, maybe he'll add a pic.

Thanks for looking, not to spectacular, but I had a blast finding them.

Thanks marinedad. If it's a fossil, it's one of neater ones for me. I see sandstone do some of the most creative textures is why I have some doubt. I was hoping someone else had something similar. I wasn't sure if sandstone could form this kind of fossil. Not that I'm so sure it's even sandstone....
