cephalopod inside a rock?

I dont go looking for rocks or fossils here in TN. However, today on my treasure trek around the golf course (hey, free balls are a treasure too) I found this rock. It is about 4 1/2 inches wide, 2 inches deep and 2 1/2 inches high. I think its sand stone, but not pos. There looks to be the top of a cephalopod on the top of the rock. I`ve found these fossils around here before but never like this. So is the rest of it inside the rock? Or did it just grow on top of the rock? My laptop is not seeing my camera, so no pics to show you. Anybody got an idea w/out seeing it? I dont want to bust it open, I dont want the rock but dont want to ruin it for somebody else.

Here in Tx. the cephalapods are incased in limestone....I have many pieces such as you describe, just a part showing, by careful chipping away the surface I have been able to pull the rest of the speciman from the rock....hope this helps, but please don't just bust it sample open, it leads to losses due to the rock taking a lot of the ceph with it.....goat

Well Howdy there Old Goat,,,I forgot all about this topic!!! I Thank you for your reply ! I am thinking it was shortly after that when I started finding crystals and then arrow heads. I guess I got side tracked. I did bust that rock open, I guess it was just a growth or something, no fossil there. Thanx again.
