    darkwaterdiver

Thought I would post a few of my favorite fossils
Saber cat incisor with the last couple of inches broken off.

    Deformed shark teeth.
    .
Musk Ox horn This thing had me stumped. I thought Bison, State Arch. corrected me.

    Mastodon cap

This is a piece of mastodon cap but deformed. Notice the bumps on the tooth.

    Giant land tortolise

    Giant Armadillo Scutes

Last is a 27 inch Mastodon tusk found by a friend right by the anchor of my boat.

    Re: darkwaterdiver

Thanks for showing us what you've found, Joe.

You found a section of musk ox horn core in SC!! They must be like hens' teeth. There's no record of Symbos here in Florida.

What is the grooved thing next to the glyptothere osteoderm in your image. It is not any part of an armadillo that I am familiar with. Can we see the other side?

Harry: David Bohaska with the Smithsonian said that the Muck OX horn core was the only southern most record from the east coast. This was in 2002. Since then I heard of one around the Beaufort SC area.
The Grooved piece I was told by a Big State Collector that it was part of the Armadillo. I think turtle. I'll try to get some pic's tomorrow. thanks for looking.......Joe
PS: The Smithsonian fellows said that the giant land Tortoise shell was the biggest they had ever seen and estimate that it was about 7 feet or better across.

Holy smokes. I love the tusk! When you say boat anchor, you mean in waters off of SC? That is a too cool find!

The Mastodon Tusk was found in the Cooper River of SC. This river is famous for the Megalodon shark tooth.

Sorry, Joe . . . I don't recognize this strange pattern as part of an armadillo or of a turtle. It appears from the underside to be stone . . . a pseudofossil. Keep asking about it; maybe a better diagnosis will turn up.
