    Prehistoric Snail Shell?

Found in a farm field in eastern North Carolina. Is it a prehistoric snail shell or something else?

    Re: Prehistoric Snail Shell?

It's an "olive" shell. If you are finding other evidence of marine life in the field, it may be a naturally-occurring fossil there.

Olives are still living in coastal waters, so it's always possible that the olive was picked up on a beach as a curiosity and carried inland.

    Hello JimBeHuntin',

How about a picture of the end? I still think you might have a Native American Shell Bead.

Thanks for the imput H_S ... I believe you are correct in your thinking that this is a shell bead ... there is a hole in the end of the shell as you thought ... I included a couple more photos of the shell.
