    Fossilized Egg?

Wishful thinking I am sure but there is just "something" about this rock that doesn't seem "right"...The surfaces is finely pebbled and the inside is not the same as the outside...there is an outer shell and a white, almost chrystaline inner core. The shape is also very egg-like but I know that is seldom a good indicator. Any input?

Could be a firepit stone due to the black patina. Not a egg or tool.

I found a rock that looks very similar to this picture. The one I found has one end broken off, and there is something in the middle that looks like it has an eye. Pictures:

Today I took it to Artifact ID Day at the Burke Museum; they thought it was a fossilized sea burrow, with possibly some organic material at the center.

I still think it looks like an egg!
