    Opalised squid

    My nephew Peter found this specimen few months ago while mining in Coober pedy with my brother Paul..i haven't done any opal mining this year,,too long in tooth for hot desert
    its Squid ,common name calamari but has been opalized over millions of years.
    Belimite is scientific name
    the opal miner new he was on patch fossils as they had found small pieces belimites so was good months work and this is the king specimen
    if u want check it out ,its museum piece quality

    Beautiful stuff. My father-in-law had a friend that was a miner in Coober-Peady - lived underground! Wish I could remember his name.

    Ahh, the belemite opalized isen't that nice!?
    www.opalauctions.com is good if you want opal (have bought there myself so I talk out of experience)
