Found this tooth yesterday...at least I think it's a tooth

any ideas?

Found this walking along the beach which was renourished a few years ago with sand from 3 miles offshore. There was lot's of "stuff",,, fossils, I found an arrowhead and saw a lady find an amazing spearpoint...anyway...picked this up yesterday... looks really smooth compared to the bison/horse(?) teet picked up along same beach...looks like a vegitarian to me

Thanks.... been eat up with it since I was kid.

Been perusin the internet looking at pictures, checking this what I think is a Mastadon tooth part I have (pic) and I think maybe... just maybe..... my other little tooth is part of a juvenile Mastadon tooth?

Good call. It a Harlan's ground sloth tooth from Paramylodon (Glossotherium) harlani. Good find. Now consolidate it 'cause they tend to fall to pieces when dried out.

I think the beach is slated for renourishment again.... not that I'm all for it.... but I do take advantage of the fossil hunting possibilities.
