UFO! (Unidentified Fossilized Object) Please help :)

It's obviously some kind of scute. I believe it was found on the Aucilla river. Any opinions are welcome!

Soft shell turtle is what it looks like to me.

Definitely turtle carapace, but I don't think it from Apalone (soft-shell). Maybe Pseudemys cf. P. nelsoni.

It is probably coral.

A weathered piece of Brain Coral, to be specific.

I've got scutes that look like the soft shell pieces, and they look similar to my thing but not exact. Is it possible this just fossilized better and left the ridges higher preserved?

I think some of the scutes or carapace pieces will vary in appearance based upon a multitude of variables (ie. age of animal, location on body, especially species). Do you hunt the aucilla river?
