We have hunted fossils for many years on Edisto Beach in SC. We've never seen anything like this one. Can anyone tell me what it is?

I think your fossil is a bit of turtle or tortoise carapace. Because of the bilateral symmetry, I'm thinking it's a neural. Neurals are the bones down the center line of the carapace.
