OR a chunk of chert with concentric layers inside? found in south central Ks. river.

sorry, it is not mammoth or mastodon tusk at all. cross section of the tusk would reveal a crisscross pattern in the ivory. I am at work and cannot post photos for examples but do a search for it and you will see the pattern I'm talking about.....KEEP LOOKING~!!!

Thanks for the reply Aeromike! The longer I looked at it, the more I thought no...but I will keep looking, in fact I can't quit looking. I'll see if I can find a pic with the pattern you are talking about.

Not my photo, but this shows the cross pattern better than any of my pieces.

Oh ok
I have a pice somewhere that I thought was pottery but didn't feel right
It has that pattern on it
