Even when you think it has mostly been found, it pays to check the gullies after it rains.
I found these wood pieces & ferns yesterday.

Hi Fossis!

Nice fossils! Is the petrified wood agatized...will it take a nice polish? Have you found any marine fossils in the area? Keep posting your finds! :D

Hey Tom, no the wood is not 'agatized', mostly
sandstone, or hard shale.
In some locations we find 'marine fossils', some mixed
with the petrified wood, & ferns.
In one area west of here, I found 'Golden Ammonites',
pyrite actually, but they were too brittle & fell apart.

Hello Fossis!

Not much petrified wood in my area although about 4 hours east there are some agatized limb casts. Molds of tree limbs which later filled with grey colored agate from a volcanic flow which covered the sediments. Too bad the pyritized ammonites are britlte, they must look really nice.

What state are you in Tom?
I collect rocks & minerals from all over, & trade my fossils.
According to the experts, the swamps in this area were
covered by 'shallow seas', then receded, leaving sea shells,
& marine fossils, along with 'petrified wood' & ferns.
