Some Things I've Found
Here's some fossils I've found in the past year. I haven't been into this for very long, so my collection isn't half of what you guys' collections are.. I'm more of a vertebrate fossil collector than an invertebrae collector, but I still enjoy it all..
I live in North Central Florida and hunt the rivers and creeks for the vertebrate fossils and sharks teeth.. My better echinoids come from a sinkhole on private land that I have access to.
I've posted a couple of these before, but a bunch I haven't. Oh, and any of you guys that're interested in fossils, click my personal website.
The one on the left was found by my brother-in-law about 10 feet from where the two other items were found... Two of the pieces on the right fit together, and the other seems to be from another tooth of the same animal.. This was all found in 2 trips.
Here's the one that got me into fossil hunting.... The first time I ever went to this creek, I fanned the bottom of it... out came a few rocks and this..
Here's a whale vert as I found it... Sitting straight up out of the water..
Some Hemipristis serra teeth from a couple hours of walking a creek.
Coral head on the back of a tailgate.. That thing was heaaavyyy..
A little frame I put together from the things I found in January.
Some invertebrate stuff..
a pretty unproductive day at the river..
Mako and vert found on the same day.. within 3 minutes of each other.. ha
A mammoth "hoof core", though they don't have hooves :P It's some bone in the foot.
a better day's trip..
Well, I can't post many more pics than that right now.....
Happy hunting,
Cris
