French trade axe?

I found this last Oct. It measures 6.5"x4.5". It's hand forged and made of wrought iron, I believe. I've been told it's a French trade axe. What do ya'll think.

I'm no expert but couldnt that be Spaniard ? I have seen one of those before and though I understood it Spaniard.

It could have been called a biscayne axe also
