A small antique dealer has this bed I’m interested in purchasing for $1000 ... unfortunately he has little detail on country of origin or time period. Was just wondering if anyone had thoughts or could share some expertise with me! Thank you! Looks like it may have been made by the same company that made mine. Mine came from an estate sale in NW OH and is from the 1870s and is considered an American piece of furniture. My aunt who had an antique store in Allen, MI for years had purchased it in the late 1970s for her store and she sold it to another aunt in the same town and I inherited it when she passed. I do not have the foot board on mine because I don't like banging my feet on it but it too is similar. The OP one looks like a slightly more expensive version of the one I have. I actually tried to sell mine at my aunt's estate sale but nobody would give me the thousand bucks I wanted so I dragged it all the way back to NY from MI. Antique furniture in general is way down now and I think the seller is asking maybe twice what he could ever get for it around here. Very nice bed though so it becomes a simple matter of if you wish to pay seller's price.
