Hello, went to a Salvation Army trying my luck looking for books (nothing)- but my mom spotted a neat box and told me it was tramp art, then went on to explain that they were made during the depression for trade. I took a close look at the box and saw that it was not a chinese knockoff. The slats are of unequal length, all the work appears to be done with a pocket knife, the hinges, which are not of the correct size, are held in with nails far too small to hold it together tightly, the lock face is made of tin, and the style was the most common during that time. The inside was redone with new cloth and staples. As soon as I knew what it was, I was instantly sold. I advise you look for them at sales as they are collectable- not to mention an neat item to display and explain.
