    Hi Ho Silver !!

We got up this morning and headed out to several 7:00 & 7:30 a.m. garage sales trying to burn the candle at both ends... Buying in the Morning and setting up at the flea market this afternoon.... But my writing is in mid-to-late afternoon, because I didn't get to the flea market today.....I found Silver this morning at two different "Honey Holes".... The weather had a chill to it with the low places getting their first Frost.... As I was in the realization of what I'd found, my wife said she could see fog coming out of my nose, I was breathing so hard after finding what amounted to a minature silver mine...

Because I know we are early, before we completely walk up to those setting up their garage sales, we always ask if we can look as they set out things. When I don't see any, I ask if they have any jewelry, and I did that very thing, Friday morning. She said she did...but hadn't put any out yet (as we were 30 minutes early). But, the lady took time to bring out a glass case with .925 silver jewelry of all kinds; mostly rings and necklaces... . The Sterling double beaded bangle bracelet on the top right lacks $4.88 paying for itself AND all the rest. Here's what I spent $45.00 on:

    Total grams: 298.1

    Spent $45, Worth $213.00

The second spot was an estate sale, and we almost didn't stop. The person in charge of running the sale is one that does many in our area. On this first day, but late morning, I asked if they had any Sterling...he said, "Yes, it's scatter around the place."

Then he took the time and found a plastic baggie of small Sterling spoons that you collect from all the places you go and display them in small shadow boxes.... He said, "If you find some other things, I can help a little on the prices." In the end he marked down the collection of small Sterling spoons 1/3, a pair of Wallace Silver Sterling and weighted candle stick holders down 1/4, and then sold me some sterling rings and a sterling band necklace for $9. Basically, what he did was get the price between "first day prices and last day prices", which was fine with me!!
    Total was $74.00

    Total Grams of Sterling: 256

    Spent $59, Worth $256.00
AND Still have the additional $15 spent on two Sterling candle stick holders. I've got to skin them to find their Grams? and their Worth?

I have found twice as much gold and "Ten Times" the amount of .925 silver going to garage sales in the last 6 months, than I've found metal detecting in the last 10 years....Today, I Spent $104.00 on Sterling Silver.
    It's Worth: $469.00

If I can do it, you can too!!!

That's awesome work. I'm getting inspired to try a bit of "detecting" at garage sales myself

There was a day when those troy oz where not worth $5 . I know my mom picked up a bunch of rounds when she worked at the jewelry shop for 4.50 back around 2001 .

Congratulations on one heck of a day. I do the same as you. I ASK if I don't see and it often pays off in the biggest of ways. Most of my biggest precious metal scores came this past summer after asking rather than seeing.
    Great job!

Whatever it is, it is valuable. If nothing else for the lesson learned or simply the experience of having been there.
