    interesting silver? medallion find

Picked up this silver coin/medallion from a very cluttered case at a local "co-op" antique store. It is a silver medallion with a picture of a football game on a tv set on the obverse. The reverse is engraved "To my loving wife for her patience and understanding during the past "tv" football season". It is the same size as a silver dollar coin and it came in a silver screw together bezel.

Now, I am pretty sure the bezel isnt silver since it sticks to a magnet but the medallion is most likely silver due to the black tarnish on it, the smell of it, the color of it, the "ring" it makes when struck. I would say it is a good ounce so for $10 I think I did alright.

Cool Beans! You could also do a temperature test. It is said that silver transfers heat and cold quite rapidly. Maybe run one edge under cold water as you hold the other. For me though, the only definitive test involves acid on filings.

Do the drop test. I can hear silver from a mile away if it hits the floor or jingles in your hand with clad. I would think it should be marked somewhere if it is silver, have you looked at it through a loupe?

Yes, as a matter of fact the pic of the engraving was taken through my loupe (it is not marked anywhere).
I also did the "drop test". I prefer to balance it on the tip of my finger and strike it with a pencil. This thing sounds like it will ring forever at a very high pitched decibel.
