Well...I've spent hours hunting for anything even similar...nothing. I counted approx 100 faceted smaller stones possibly yellow Sapphire...or of course Citrine. I took my loupe and the Amber cabochons are real...they have particular matter in many of them.

I really would appreciate someone helping me ID this piece.

    Thanks.

Lol. Yes it would be nice. However...I haven't made any headway in IDing it. Someone like yourself with an encyclopedia brain full of history might be able to assist in my search..if you had the inclination to do so....

Have you seen any marks on it? Seems there should be some, I mean OMG look at how beautiful that bowl is, it must indeed be the Holy Grail!

No marks of any kind...I spent hours mm by mm scanning...even with my loupe. I plan to have the metal tested tomorrow (Thursday). Although I do not think the band is gold it might be a mix. The cabs are definitely Amber..and the tiny faceted gems..who knows. All I can say is someone went through a lot of effort to complete it. I get the sense it is old...and I mean pre-1900's. Anyway..if anyone helps me..I will be generous.

Cappy, can you please post a pic of the inside of the dish? Also, what are the dimensions of this little beauty? I know I'm asking alot of questions, but now I have something to do while I'm getting over my bad tooth being pulled, and waiting to see if I'm going to lose the one next to it. Anyway, Chug and I will be happy to look up what we can!!!!! Red

The only thing I can add is one word. "crackle" and i'm not even sure about that. Can't find anything like it.
Is that a pontil mark I see on the bottom?

Although very very smooth...it just might be. Almost imperceivable is what appears to be a mark that looks like a bent Q-tip...but obviously much much smaller. I'll post the results from the pawn shop later today.

well since he bought it for $3 and has to mail it -- $4 and actual postage --man has to make a profiet

or he can bring it to the treasure hunters event on the 30th and get $4 from me and not have to mail it.
