    The keyword game, wanna play?

I want to start this thread to help others with the keywords of their listings and to learn more about listing in general for myself. Everyone has their own way of doing things, and I hope to learn how other people list to create better listings for myself.

What keywords would you use for the items pictured? ( these have already sold )

Are they marked? They look like Sexton cast wall plaques, usually have a date too. I've sold a couple pair (they were red baron airplanes) and have an ebay auction right now with sexton bathroom plaques from around 1970, there not in as good a condition as yours look. But keywords: Sexton (if it is), vintage, cast iron, spanish galleon, ship.

My purpose is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

Without doing any research on what it is I would have to go with.

Re: The keyword game, wanna play?

I did some research on it when I found (with a magnifying glass) on the back, some printing that told me this was made with an old cigar box. That's what lead me to this as my title keywords-
Pimitive Folk Tramp Art Matchbook Holder Cigar Box Made
    Sold for $41.50.

I've bought many items not knowing exactly what it is when buying it. Especially if it looks intriguing to me or if it's not something you see every day and the price is only a few dollars or something.
    Who's next?
I got more but lets see some others on here.

I was thinking primitive, I recognize the term tramp art, but I don't know exactly what it means, I'll have to do some research.

That box must be smaller than I was thinking, very cool tho.

I know exactly what you mean with the intriguing things. Every once in a while I will find something that just says " Buy me, you don't know what I am but you should buy me" I have have no problem whatsoever chancing a couple bucks on something unknown. Seems to pay off more often than not.

I've got plenty to throw up here, but hopefully we can get some more people in on this.

OK, I'll play along. Found a set of these at a yardsale yesterday. Haven't had time to take pics, but found these on a google image search. What keywords...around the "hilt" are zodiac symbols and the leather on the vertical part has knights etc lined up.

    VINTAGE AIRGUIDE BAROMETER THERMOMETER HUMIDITY-NICE!!

Very nice condition. Looks almost retro, midcentury modern?
    Measures 26" high x 4" wide

    Possible Circa 1950-1960's?

Sold $24.50, maybe too low, but only paid $1.
    Buyer loved it!

Appears I could have been a little more descriptive...

I always try to "target" the people I am trying to sell to, but of course to target someone you need to know who your target is.

Thats about the same price that I sold mine for, but yours looks like its in much better shape. Yeah you could have probably got more out of it, but you got a happy customer so thats always good.

Ok heres another one, I just sold this today. I thought it was broken when I bought it because I couldn't figure out how to turn it on, but its actually a touch lamp with a gold iridescent bulb.

I was thinking more like "Vintage Gold Sphere Touch Lamp with Cylindrical Base"
Maybe it's a J. D. Porter original? Is the globe glass? what about the base?

The cylinder is steel / brass ep. The globe is a iridescent gold light bulb.

I used... Mid Century modern space age touch lite lamp desk shelf

    Paid $2.00 Sold 48.00.

I found another one that was taller and didn't have the iridescent globe, but I didn't get it. I knew this one would sell.

Re: The keyword game, wanna play?

Okay here's one that I really do need help with. I bought this pair of ?? last spring and have yet to find out anything about them. They are solid chrome colored (not gold as one pic shows), metallic (but a magnet won't stick to them), 13 and 13 1/4 inch tall, one is male and one is female, they have a marble base, attached with a screw through a hole from the underside of the marble base, the figures themselves are threaded at the bottom to accept the screw. There are no marks or signatures on them anywhere. I posted these on here previously and some called them candle holders and others calling card holders, I don't know. How would you list them? They look Art Deco-ish to me.
