Pottery Vase-Please help with name on bottom
I bought this for $1 last weekend at a garage sale. I don't think its old, but want to make sure. Can anyone tell what the signature is on the bottom? Looks like 'P. Longriff'? (It may be older than what I think because the glaze is crackled.) It also looks like maybe it was hand-thrown because of the rings inside. The vase measures 8 3/4" tall and is about 6" at its widest point.
Thanks for looking and any help!

My gut keeps telling me to look at it again too, creeper71. I have gone through pages of ebay pottery vases and looked for anything similar, but can't find anything.
Thanks for the help. I'll just hold on to it until I find out for sure!

If you compare the birds legs/feet with the signiture on the bottom the color is exactly the same so 9 chance out of 10 the image on the vase was hand painted.... I am thinking that it could be a well known artist an possibly a work they done while in art school... They have alot of that kinda stuff on Roadshow....

It is a really pretty piece. I love pottery and collect old vases, especially the 1940's green colored ones.
Thanks Chug!

I took a couple more pictures in natural lighting to see if that would help show the signature better. I think there's an "s" on the end of the name .
Thanks again creeper!

I'm still trying to figure out that signature. I played with it a bit. I think it's a nice looking vase. But I can't say anything else for now.
The name looks like P. Cosgriffe to me?

Those first letters are illegible--I can't decide if that first letter is an 'L' or a 'B'.
Thanks for the help diggummup!

I am a novice at this, but could what diggummup saw as a capital P. Cosgriff actually be a simple capital H So, it would be Hosgriff? T.

Hi! I have a vase with a similar signature. I think it reads Cosgriffe, mine doesn't have a first initial. I found a Rick Cosgriffe in Billings, Montana, he is a potter, but I haven't found any examples of his vases.
I did find this description of his work dated 2004: Prairie Blossoms, at the Northern Hotel at 19 N. Broadway, will feature local pottery artist Rick Cogsgriffe, who will display his new stoneware pottery and his traditional brush-painting pottery depicting iris, wildflowers, fish and chickadees.
An opening reception for Cosgriffe with musical entertainment will be held in conjunction with the walk. His pottery pieces include serving bowls, plates, strainers, lamps, soap dispensers and dishes.
