    I think the only possible way to go about finding out "melt" would be to tear open the bottoms and clean out whatever is being used to weight them Make sure it is solid sterling first, instead of silver plated, or you could end up destroying something to the point of complete worthlessness. Good luck, I would be interested in finding out what melt ends up being so try to post when u figure it out.
