I agree stay away from things like that especially at that price. If I don't know about something I never pay out more than I can afford to loose. In my case that's $20 :laughing9:

The market is flooded with reproduction Chinese antiquities. I agree with the others, unless you know what your looking at stay way from it. It doesn't even look like real jade to me. I wouldn't give you $40, much less $400.

I have no clue, but it appears to be a ceramic...

Smash it on the floor, if it breaks and it's white inside it's ceramic.. :laughing9: If green, maybe jade :dontknow:

It's a polyresin material more than likely. Besides, how's he gonna smash it when he doesn't even own it, [mod]edited[/mod] At least you get a kick out of it, that's all that matters I guess. :laughing7:

Good thing you asked, I would not have taken a chance either. Anthing over $2.99 I stay away from unless it is in an area I have some basic knowledge of.

In Hong Kong I found out how to tell the fake from the real... feel it, true jade will feel very cool to the touch, anything else not so.....

Another test you can do, is the same test that is done on ivory pieces. Bend out one end of a paper clip
and heat it up with a lighter. If it is polyresin or plastic, it will melt. The hot metal will not do anything to stone.
Personally, I'd leave it where it is. The orient has become very proficient in creating fakes.
