Re: Here's why I take the time to look thru junk jewelry!
I'll take it a step further:
Don't forget to look through your own junk jewelry bin. With gold hitting $1800+ I decided to take a second look at my junk bin at anything that looked remotely like gold. Wouldn't you know it, I found 2 small pieces that passed the acid test. One of them was actually marked 14K VERY tiny on the stem.

Good eye, awesome finds!
I have looked through the jewelry at sales for years now. It all started when I got a 14K thick herringbone necklace for $1 and I had just bought one exactly like it at Goodmans for over $300 (like I said a long time ago). Seems like you look at many sales with no luck, but then you come accross the one sale that has the "goods".
Re: Here's why I take the time to look thru junk jewelry!
I've been buying junk jewlery for awhile. Sometimes if a yardsaler has a lot of stuff in a bowl or tray, I'll look around then go back to it & ask "how much?" they almost always reply which one? I say all of it. It usually freaks them out & I get the whole lot for a good price. Test & sort put costume on pieces of 3 X 5 cards or in plastic bags for resale. I can always count on at least 300% profit not including gold or silver values.
