    Yesterday I found....

completely rude people!!! My fiance and I arrived at a sale an hour early (we were first) and stood in line and as soon as the door opened this group of people who always shop together started elbowing us and pushing us out of the way. I couldn't believe it....felt like we were at once of those crazy day after Thanksgiving Wal-Mart sales you hear about on the news. This group of about 5-10 also shows up at the sale with pieces of tape with the word "sold" written on it with their initials. They just go through the house putting the "sold" tape on items they are interested in and then go through it later and decide if they really want it. Has anyone else seen this or done this? IMHO it sucks when people do this!!!

Anyway after the terrible experience in the morning we did manage to dig up a few treasures:

Taxco Silver Bracelet - Paid $7.50 weighs about 20g
Misc. Silver Bracelets - Paid $20 weighs about 50g
Set of 6 very nice steak knives (I forget the brand) Paid $2 should get about $30 on ebay
Hand Painted Secla made in Portugal Vase - Paid $3

Wow, never heard of anything like that. I'd like to tell you that I'd pull that tape off and stick it on something stupid, but in real life I probably wouldn't. I have behaved poorly at a yard sale and on behalf of everyone who ever felt like an ass after acting like one - I apologize on their behalf.

Hey thanks batcap! Also, a brilliant idea about moving the tape...that would be pretty funny (for me at least).

    Re: Yesterday I found....

I go to a lot of estate sales & also work with an estate sale group. I've seen people work together in pairs but never a group of 5-10. Many people put sold stickers or tape on items but the rule around here is that when you do it's sold. If we catch someone not buying after putting on sold stickers we take them off our contact list.

We don't have people pushing & shoving around here, most people are polite. We have more of a problem with people that want to stand in the middle of the front hall & socialize. Why show up an hour early & then stand in the hall blocking traffic? I'd love to shove those idiots.

LOL...too funny! We actually were at a moving sale a week ago and were told about this group of people....I totally thought the person telling us about them was making stuff up....only to experience them a week later....gotta love it!

Man, if I saw people doing that cr@p at my yard sale, I'd either announce that nothing marked "sold" is "sold" until it is paid for at the cash box............or walk behind 'em pulling their little stickers off my stuff.

Greedy, rude SOB's - who needs 'em ?

    Diggem'

Yup. The end of a way of life. Too bad. It's a good way. Wagons forward! Yo!

Hey J-Dude, nice finds and I have yet to see anyone do this myself but my dad said he remembers someone doing that around this area. We went to a couple of garage sales in Spanaway on Friday and that was it.

In my area the rude people are the ones who try to push you out of the way to dig in the box of jewelry you're already digging in. Pis$es me off to no end. Get your nasty paws out of my space and brush your teeth before you leave the house. I like to eat beans and onions on Friday night and when they stand too close, I'll just fart on them.

As in WA state? Lived in Puyallup and bowled twice a week at the bowling in Parkland or Spanaway, to old to remember and both cities but up against each other. Many Many moons ago....
