Storage auction finds
I know there is not a spot for this type of thing so I figured this was the best spot. After watching all the storage auction shows and saving up money one finally happened close by on a day I had off so I figured what the hell. 11 units were sold and only 3 caught my eye. The first 2 units went too high in price for my liking but I got the last one for $200. After paying I went back to the unit, cleaned it out and hauled everything home. So far these are my finds....
New Schwinn Evolution Comp Airdyne workout bike valued around-$700
A lot of new womens shoes valued around $600
10kt Ring and 3 14kt chains $200 melt
Silver ring and pin $30 melt
Disney limited addition watch in box valued between $200-300
2 Dale of Norway sweater coats valued at $200 a piece
Brand new Coach leather purse valued at $300
I know the value isn't what I'm going to get but I'm happy with some profit
Everything else gets donated to a local thrift store to help the animal shelter.

Re: Storage auction finds
You did good. The melt value on the jewelry will pay for the unit, anything else is profit.
I've been thinking about doing this for years (before the shows were on) but have not yet. You give me renewed interest.
Thanks,
Paul

"Storage Auction Finds" could be a new topic the moderators can set up! I love watching those shows, and would love to see what some of the TNET'ers are finding.

Re: Storage auction finds
I've bee doin this for years. Used to be able get decent rooms for $25. Now the idiots come along and make it look like you find safes or gold in every room. Now dump rooms go for over $100. And usually to people who who probaly have a house in foreclosure. It's just crazy now.
I would also like to see an area where we could list our finds

Nice finds. I think it's fine to post them here. But I believe we do need to do something with this board. This board gets flea market finds, thrift store finds, estate sale finds, storage auction finds, regular auction finds, curbside and dumpster finds.
We need an all encompassing title for this board or a couple sub sections at least.

I have long been thinking this board should be called "deals and steals" or "one man's trash..."

Re: Storage auction finds
I agree with jersey ben on the name of this board Deals and Steals definitely fits. As for the rest of the comments the shows have created lots of buzz. Before those I heard it would be under 20 people at an auction now I hear well publicized ones get 80 plus people. This causes alot of bidding and rooms go for way too much... Luckily this site did there own auction and didnt bring in a company so it was 20 people for 11 units.
