    "sexy" corkscrew a welcomed surprise!

Hello, I bought this at an estate sale for $3. I had no idea what I had (yes, I know RESEARCH before listing!) until I listed this on ebay for $20 and had 3 emails in the first 5 min. asking for a buy it now.... one was offering $200!!! What? I did a quick search and put my starting bid up to $200 and sent emails back saying I was going to do a BIN due to the multiple interested parties. The same ebayer (that offered the $200) emailed me later and asked for a $225 BIN with 2 days to go on auction and no bids on it yet. He said "That would be a pretty good deal at this point". I figured he'd bid on the $200 if he wanted it that bad. Anyway, glad I didn't sell out. Also, I had 25 watchers on this....the most I've ever had.

Awesome score and sale! Congrats - I surely would have picked that up at the sale too!

I must ask... I am in NO WAY attempting to offend you but I am curious about something. In your listings I see you sold something for just over a dollar. Do you find it is worth your time to sell stuff that cheap? I take stuff that I don't expect to sell for more than $8-10 to the flea market. Just looking to get a different point of view on this topic as I have been pondering what to do with my cheap stuff lately (I actually took a box of stuff to Goodwill last month).

Thanks everyone! Jerseyben, I do sell whatever I can right now. No offense taken. Since I don't sell a lot and don't have a lot of high priced stuff to sell, I'll try just about anything if it's in decent shape. The particular item you are talking about I picked up in a bag sale at a church so I fill the bag up and some things I don't know what they are or if they will sell. These don't sell for much new and I had no use for them and I had the time to list them. Obviously if I didn't have much time I would not mess with those kinds. :-)

Great score! I love it when I list an item with no past sales history available to tell me what it's worth. That makes it fun. I'm waiting for my next "surprise" item. Just goes to show, there are serious collectors of everything out there and they know what they want.

You could have listed that for .99 and it still would have gone that high I believe.

You have greater knowledge than I...

I would have passed this one up, even for 50 cents.

Picked up a copy of Buy Keep or sell put out by Readers Disgest. Copyright 2006 and guess what was featured in the corkscrew section? Your corkscrew.... you did good, the corkscrew was considered a buy $200 - $250.
