I made my weekly rounds the estate sale circuit and picked up some overlooked gems.

I hit this estate sale on the fourth day and picked up these items.




These were priced at $3 and since it was the last day everything was half off. I paid the lady $1.50.

Then I was shocked when I saw this bag of utensils.




These too were marked $3 for everything and I happily gave the lady $1.50.

The next estate sale was in the third week. There had been 6 days of selling before. I had been to the sale the previous week but this week they said they were going to open up the garage. I missed the first day but went the second day not expecting much.
But I found this.





I plugged it in and it was working just fine. The cord needs to be replaced and I need to clean it up a bit before I try and sell it but I got it for $15. Even the guy that I bought it from mentioned it was probably worth $15 in scrap alone and I could not argue with that.

I hear from some people that estate sales aren't worth it.... but I have had good success in the past and I say stay vigilant, even the pros don't know what they have all the time. And the sharks that go hunting don't always catch everything.

Nice scores! I found a large lot of vintage Lufthansa Airline flatware that I paid $5 for, I sold it in lots on Ebay at $5 per 3 piece place setting plus shipping. I made well over $100 on it. You may do just as well with the Air France depending on the makers marks and key words you use (hint-Concorde). Check this 12 pc lot out that sold for $102.50- http://tinyurl.com/7q54qyf Your Danish flatware will sell but it looks to be Rosewood versus Teak so it won't command as much, nice find nonetheless. The 1950's fan is cool and you got a good deal on it too. As for estate sales, I still go when it doesn't interfere with other things and do occasionally score something. This past weekend I managed a Dansk Design Torun cheese knife with a teak handle and 2 packs of sealed Pan-Am playing cards, one pack having the Pittsburgh Steelers depicted on it. All 3 items for $2. It came from an estate sale held by a company. I'll make my money back tenfold on the Steelers cards alone.
