    Best $40 I've spent in a long time...Treasure Chest!

Went to the Adamstown Flea Market yesterday chasing old fishing lures. Didn't expect to come away with this...old wooden cigar box filled with everything you see here:

The 3 "Mignon" tokens are French Brothel tokens worth $75 each!

A lucky dog you are! That's a treasure chest for sure.

A great find... Now, that I'm drooling... could you tell about "how" you got them and why someone else didn't?

Lots of work on your part to get them posted, but well worth sharing your excitement!!

I think because the dealer was set up in the hunting / fishing section, most folks must've been after that stuff & not coins. Plus I was there early. Guess I can't complain that I never get a break...

Was the dealer aware of what he was selling, or did he just think it was a bunch of foreign coins?

I think the photos answer your question... any dealer knowing what was in there would have atleast pulled all the us silver out of the box...

I asked him if he was selling "per coin" or "the whole box". He said he could do either way. I said "how much for everything?" He said $25 (for just the cigar box). I said "ok, lots of stuff to take home & research". then I noticed the small box of coins next to it & he let me have it for an additional $15. Sometimes you're in the right place at the right time. To be fair, alot of this stuff needed research to prove value (i.e. the Brothel tokens).

That is awesome! And inspiring. Getting ready to head out to see what treasures of my own I can locate in the garage sales around here. May I have just half the success that you had!

Well, I've sold off everything from the box. $40 out. $511.36 in. Minus transaction fees. Wish I could do this all day every day.
