Dochad mickey mouse painting?
I picked up a painting that is hand painted on velvet. I think the artist is Jennifer Dochod and it is I believe hand painted by her and signed in the bottom left. I just picked it up for $3.25. It has like a 3/4" Tear in it, and I couldn't really find out anything about it. All help appreciated!

I don't know who Jennifer Dochod is, but similar black velvet Mickey's sell for between $10 and $25 without any damage. The signature could just as easily say Dochez, which would be more appropriate since the vast majority of black velvet paintings were produced in Mexico in the 1970's during the height of the craze or fad or whatever you may want to call it. Here is an interesting and good little read on the marketing of black velvet oil paintings in the early 1970's, in case your interested. A Velvet Painting Maquiladora in Juárez | Far Outliers
"Thinking is the hardest work there is, which is the probable reason so few engage in it." - Henry Ford

Thank you for the help! The 2nd to last letter definately is an o though. I'll just give it to my grandma i think, she liked it. I typed in Jennifer dochod artist and found her on facebook. Apparently she went to a community college. I don't know if this is her painting or not, because it is nothing compared to her more recent ones. I'll just assume it's worth what someone is willing to pay, a couple bucks. My grandma liked it I'll probably just give it to her.

Haha, I actually kind of liked it. But now that you mention it, his eyes and the black darkness sort of do.

I found her and she is like in her 60's now, maybe older. Would make sense if it was made in the 70's. Some of her newer art work is amazing.

I would have bought it for my sister in law. Her and my wife both love(d) anything Disney, but especially the mouse.
