1935 chevrolet Turret promo doughboy hat

Scored this early at my 3rd stop went by the sale they were still setting up, picked it up asked how much, he shrugged said 3.00. Had no clue what it was, but it was old and said Chevrolet. Scoured the rest of the yard, but everything else was modern junk, not sure how this old piece was just lying out with all the new stuff. Can't forget the bummed out look on another guys face ,when he saw what I had just bought, as he knew just seconds sooner it would of been his. I have researched it the last hour, I think it's a promo hat tied in to the turret gun,to promote the solid steel turret chevrolet made in 1935. Any help or opinions would be welcome.
