Batman sterling and roseville

This weekend I decided to go saleing Saturday and Sunday. The first sale was one I found on CL was a tag sale the had original concert posters from all time periods all over the house and most were signed. While still building up my garage sale budget I don't have as much to spend as I like but if I could have I would have bought the whole house. Along with music posters there were a few batman items mixed in. The coa for one music poster(an autographed Hailey and the comets with a line of rock around the clock written out) was missing so I gave them my number and had them hold it for me until the next day if they found it. I called them later and they had not found it but I could not live with the regret if I didn't buy something from the sale so I had to go back the next day. I was first in the house the second day and decided on an original batman poster from 1966 that was signed by the stars of the movie. As I left I bought a necklace for $8 that I'll sell for $30 to cover gas and I also got a old sterling cigarette case (126 g) for $35 and a 1989 cardboard cutout for $26 that is in my livingroom to stay. I then went to an auction and bought a piece of roseville #816-8" for 55 I'll sell hopefully for 150 pretty good weekend if nothing else it was fun.

I don't know much about Batman stuff except that there are a lot of collectors of vintage Batman stuff. If those autographs can be authenticated I bet your poster would command a very nice price.

That Roseville piece is a can't miss, heck even at most auctions that would bring close to if not $100 or more. Roseville has been hot around here.

Nice Roseville Bittersweet ewer vase. Prices are not what they used to be though compared to 10 years ago. You should still be able to get what you want for it though. Inspect it closely with a magnifying glass for any small damages (or crazing) before listing (if you sell on the bay). Is that sterling cigarette case you mentioned signed by the maker?

The cigarette case is hallmarked as j. Gloster Birmingham 1919. Thanks for looking and the comments.

Nice roseville piece! I inherited some pieces from my mom, and they didn't really sell. I practically gave them away.

I'm sorry to hear that I figured $55 wasn't to much and I could if nothing else get that back.

$55 wasn't too much for that particular vase. It depends on the pattern and the size/color/shape of the piece, when it comes to Roseville (or Am. Art Pot. in general). It still sells better than Hull and McCoy pottery but not as much as say, Weller pottery or Rookwood. The market isn't what it used to be. A lot of the collectors of this stuff have died off it seems. Your 8" vase in the Bittersweet pattern should still fetch about $125-$150 as long as the condition is excellent with no chips, cracks, or repairs. It may take a little while to sell it though. Or you may get lucky and sell it right off, if the right person is watching. I used to collect American Art Pottery. Now I just sell it when I find it cheap enough.
