I'll post the obligatory what is on the bottom? Signature? The red wrap is a nice cherry red. Until recently the chinese had never really nailed that color. Based on that I would lean toward US Studio or Murano glass. If the bottom has a nice polish and no signature I would lean more towards Murano or Poland. But just a guess. It would make a really cool pendant light.

the bottom base has a small area that isn't high gloss but rather ground looking to make it flat. no signatures or anything.

It's a nice looking piece, however in my opinion it's modern contemporary. Made to look like a piece of Murano. Possibly Chinese or Mexican made.

That probably rules out it being from Italy. My best guess would be Polish or American. If you are really dedicated you could start searching for look a likes on ebay and hope to find one with a sticker. Or hope someone else chimes in here.

If very modern last few years or so I would say this is right on. Mexican glass still has lots of bubbles if you look closely.

I saw some hand tossed Polish made art glass on a recent business trip. Strikes me as similar. Might also look in that direction.
