Picked these Ed Levin sterling earrings at the Salvation Army today for seven bucks. I can't find them online anywhere and need to determine what material this is for eBay listing purposes. Leaning towards glass because the design appears to be acid-etched but I'm just not sure, any ideas?

I would guess its not glass. Seems like a lot of trouble to etch glass and then set it in sterling. Glass is a pain to grind and very few adhesives that work with it. So its normally set and usually faceted. But almost impossible to tell from a photo. I guess if you were bold you might could try to scratch it with some glass but that seems a little risky. Maybe a loupe??

Being as how they are Ed Levin, I would say they are black onyx. They are a quality jewelry designer and I don't believe they use glass in any of their pieces. Not that there aren't quality pieces of jewelry that have glass stones, I just don't see glass stones being mentioned in any of their pieces, anywhere.
