unusual sterling jewelry

These are going to be up for sale at a local auction, just trying to figure out what they are. They are listed as sterling chalice pendants, but searching for that does not work. Has anyone seen anything like them?

Are they marked 'Sterling'?
Are there any other marks?
What is their size?

I'm thinking Catholic indian mission myself. Probably Navajo.

All I have to base it on is the pictures. I don't know if they're marked sterling. They have it listed as sterling but they're not always correct. For the size I would say they're fairly large 4-5 inches. They're resting on an average size ring holder.
