"Curaçao is an island in the southern Caribbean Sea, off the Venezuelan coast, that forms part of the Dutch Caribbean. (Wikipedia)

Since the boat is South America, I can tell you that there are umpteen kinds of brownish dark-colored woods from that area, from Rosewood to Mahoganies, and many names that are unrecognizable.

I got what knowledge I have from salvaging veneer pallets from that region.

Some of it is light, some very heavy...some that would kill you in a few minutes if exposed to the smoke.

Gives a whole new meaning to "walk the plank"!

I'm guessing it's maybe 10-12" long? Sure looks like a candle holder to me. The center portion being a container to hold them.

I think it is an incense holder. That center "holder" is the smoke stack. Put incense inside it and the smoke will go up the stack. My Grandmother had one of a log cabin that as a kid I thought was the bomb and always asked her to make the chimney smoke. When she passed a few years ago I made sure it was given to me and it sits on a bookcase in my den. It's the little things that matter.
