None of those appear to be vintage in anyway. They are all pretty common flies. Most flies, depending on size and quality go for anywhere between a dollar apiece up to 3 dollars. The really big one you have that are curled up in the box are usually used for pike or bass fishing. The rest are all pretty common caddis flies, sculpins, grasshopper, ants and wooly bugger patterns.

I paid $40 for the lot.

Give me a few minutes. I'm looking a few of them up, like the one on the Orvis card to see if they have any extra value.

Looks like those might be from the 60's and go for about 12.99 if you have the pages on how to fish them also. If you find a person that is an avid fisherman you might be able to make a few bucks off them as a lot.

Thx. Greatly appreciated. I've been trout fishing with my dad is I was 3. I've never been fly fishing though.

if you look up pike fishing flies some of those go for about 8-10 dollars.

You're very welcome. I've been fly fishing Montana and Alaska since I was a tike. A lot of those flies you have, I tie all the time. Especially a lot of the caddis flies and streamers. Good luck. I hope you make some money off of them.

Down here where I am, I find saltwater flies pretty often, and I've bought a few cases of them over the years. They're pretty much irresistible for me, and many were hand-tied.

I agree with Skunkaha. 1970's to 1980's to modern. Nice assortment, though.

I tie hair bugs and they are a LOT of work. I gave up selling them as (in the 1980's) I was charging $5 for a hair mouse (and guys paid that!) and, for me, it was FAR below minimum hourly wage.

Even the little fur ants are $1.50 (or more) now. Count them all and multiply by that as a minimum. They look to be well kept and not eaten or rusty.

I talked to a guy making my pizza couple years ago at a old local pizza joint here in corning ny. he told me he stocked trout in local area as a volunteer every year and that he was an avid fly fisherman. The next time I went in I gave him a old aluminum fly case full that I had in the barn for about 20 years. They were probably from the 50's. Anyway now I get the best service one could ask for whenever I go in. I don't fly fish and the flyes were most likely worth about $30, but at least went to someone who appreciates then and I made a friend forever! JR
